WE ARE THE MIDDLE GEORGIA YOUNG FARMERS COALITION
a chapter of the National Young Farmers Coalition
NYFC represents, mobilizes, and engages young farmers to ensure their success.
We envision a country where young people who are willing to work, get trained and take a little risk can support themselves and their families in farming.
The National Young Farmers Coalition supports practices and policies that will sustain young, independent and prosperous farmers now and in the future.
Our Middle Georgia Chapter revolves around 4 Branches:
1. Facebook Group
3. Crop Mobs
4. Young Farmer Mixers
1. Facebook Group:
On the facebook group, we welcome you to ask planting questions, post equipment for sale, and to ask for help when you need it! The only rule is that all posts must be positive and supportive!

Our hope is that we can compile a super-great list of resources that we can all find in one place.
In the future, I think it would be awesome if we all guest-posted blog entries, made our own videos, and put together a Middle GA Almanac!
You are currently on our website, feel free to browse around!
3. Crop Mobs:
We've also started a Middle Georgia Chapter of Crop Mob. A Crop Mob is like a flash mob, but for volunteering on farms once a month. We work with students at Georgia College to get a bunch of volunteers out to your place in one day. We've got Crop Mobs scheduled for the Fall (Sep, Oct, Nov), but are looking to fill in Mobs for the Spring (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May!)
Let us know if you'd like to have a Crop Mob at your farm!

4. Young Farmer Mixers:
A Young Farmer mixer is basically a party where the featured guests are farmers. We think it's really important for all of us to get together outside of the farmers market to relax, swap stories, and connect!
Babe + Sage Farm will hosting a few this fall, if you'd like to host one, let us know!

Please note: you don't have to be young to join!
Besides the fact that "young" is a relative term in an industry where the average age is 58.3 years old, the coalition represents the interests of all farmers, with a special emphasis on young and beginning (less than 10 years in operation) farmers.
NYFC was instrumental in writing the legislation for the new FSA Microloan program, advocating for FSMA small farm exemptions, expanding funding to NRCS for EQIP grants, expansion of SNAP/EBT access at farmers markets and CSAs, and lots of other federal ag issues that have directly affected our farmers.
They can only do all that advocacy work if you join (and it's only $20 per year).
If you join, you get access to awesome discounts with companies like:
